Synchro Ski World Cup in Bispingen

Tomorrow, Saturday, the Synchro Ski World Cup will take place at the Snow Dome in Bispingen—the world championship for synchronized skiers. Bispingen is in Lower Saxony, near Hanover, Hamburg and Bremen, and is therefore not generally known as a winter sports destination. Thanks to the Snow Dome, which opened its doors around three years ago and is still considered one of the most modern indoor slopes, alpine skiing is also possible in flat Bispingen.

The Synchro Ski World Cup in Bispingen marks the first-ever world championship in an alpine skiing discipline to be held in northern Germany. All previous international title competitions held in Germany took place in the high-altitude regions of the Alps. In synchronized skiing, it is not just speed and technical precision that count, but above all the degree of coordination between the two skiers on each team.

The judges award 50% of the score for the synchronicity of the skiing, while technique and speed each account for 25%. To make synchronized skiing more exciting for spectators, two teams always compete against each other in the slalom, meaning four skiers are on the slope at the same time. At the Snow Dome Bispingen, spectators are especially close to the action, promising an extra spectacle.
