One of the most amazing events in Norway- Ice Music Festival - has been held during the past nine years at the most popular Norwegian ski resort of Geilo in the first full moon of the year. It is a unique art project, where everything is made of ice. At the Ice Music Festival all scenes, tribunes, outdoor cafes, street lamps, and even musical instruments are made of ice and are made shortly before the show. This makes each concert unique because the quality of ice depends on temperature and humidity, so ice pipes, guitars and drums sound unique every other time. In addition to musical events at the ice festival will be presented ice sculptures and jewelry made of ice, not so long-lasting, but also beautiful.
This year the Ice Music Festival will be held from 3 to 5 February, while the ticket price will be about 300-400 NOK for the entire festival. Ticket holders will be able to reach the venue of the festival on a free bus from the central square of Geilo.
Geilo ski resort is located exactly halfway between Oslo and Bergen. Geilo became famous in 1867 when Lord Harvey made a ski tour to the Hallingskarvet Mountains and then described it in his notes. And after the Ski Slalom World Cup in Geilo in 1935 the resort became famous worldwide. Since then began active development of the ski center infrastructure. Here appeared ski schools and comfortable hotels. To date Geilo offers 39 alpine ski tracks with the total length of 34 km of varying difficulty and length, as well as 220 kilometers of cross country tracks.
