Alpine skiing in Austria: 80 million Euros for the Ski Amade

The largest combined ski area of Austria in the Salzburg land - Ski Amade - this year actively prepares its slopes to the season. The total amount of investments in the modernization of the resorts that are part of Ski Amade in 2011 is approximately 80 million Euros.

Among the projects launched by Ski Amade this season is installation of the 6-chair Bürglalmbahn lift and opening of the ski station at the Dienten resort, opening of a new bistro and a sports shop in Hochkönig, another 6-chair Alm 6er lift at the Hauser Kaibling resort, 10-seat gondola in Hochbifang in Altenmarkt. Ski station in Planai, located in the resort Schladming Dachstein region, will also be renovated.

Planai modernization plans will be one of the largest projects as in 2013 it will host the Alpine Skiing World Cup. The central venue of the competition will be Planet of the Planai sports and tourist complex, according to seilbahn.net.

The investment program also includes modernization of the snowmaking system. After the renovation it will be possible to cover 85% of Ski Amade slopes with artificial snow. Thus, the duration of the season in Ski Amade will be extended and skiing at Salzburg resorts will be available until Easter.

The upcoming ski season in Ski Amade promises its guests at least one major innovation - ski resorts, cafes, ski chalets included into the Ski Amade ski pass, will be equipped with free WiFi spots. Each hotspot will be available within a radius of 150 meters. Thus, skiers can use the application Ski Amadé Guide, which allows using GPS navigation service at the ski slopes of the region.

Ski Amade is one of the largest combined ski areas in Austria. The total length of its tracks is 860 km. Ski Amade includes such well-known ski resorts like Schladming, Grossarltal, Gastein and others.
