Freeski and Snowboard Festival on the Zugspitze
Freeski and snowboard fans are eagerly awaiting the Freestyle Festival. It will take place for the third time on the Zugspitze from March 15 to 30. “Spring in the Park 2008” is the motto of the spring highlight in the terrain park.
International coaches will also be on hand. Top ski and snowboard pros will offer helpful tips on how to perform freestyle tricks. To support their progress, some teams will train separately in groups. Riders of all skill levels are taking part. K2 and Ride are offering participants the chance to test the latest ski and snowboard equipment free of charge. Equipment for the upcoming 2008 / 2009 season will also be available. Unsponsored participants will show off the jumps they have learned at the end of the event. They can win lucrative sponsorship deals in the “Sponsor-Me” competition.

The first week of “Spring in the Park” is for the girls. American Michelle Parker will coach female slopestyle skiers from March 16 to 23. Swiss rider Ursina Haller and Austrian Julia Parker will support the female snowboarders. Another highlight is the “Girls only” lodge party at Hausberg. Of course, male snowboarders are also welcome during the first week of the event.
In the second week, starting March 24, they will take center stage. Norway’s top K2 pro Danny Larsen and Austria’s Andreas Monsberger (Mone) will be on hand as coaches. The German RIDE pros Manuel Tapal and Jenz Kretschmer will also be there. German freestyle snowboard star Xaver Hoffmann will support the exciting event as supervisor.
The freeski winner will receive a year-long K2 Ski Local Hero contract. The snowboard winner will receive a year-long contract with the national RIDE snowboard team. Riders will be judged on their overall obstacle performance during a relaxed jam session in the park. This freestyle highlight on the Zugspitze promises exciting competitions as spring gets underway. The aerial acrobats are sure to put on another spectacular display of jumps.
