Throughout summertime the majority of ski centers and resorts are closed. But some do not follow this existing trend. It is reported that well-known Aspen ski resort situated in Colorado, USA, is to be reopened for skiing this weekend (June 13th-15th, 2008).
Aspen Skiing officials informed that heavy winter snowfalls covered Aspen Mountain with such plenty of snow that even now an average snow layer on the upper slopes is more than 3 feet. So these record snowfalls have made possible reopening of seven runs and 45 acres of terrain. It should be mentioned that at this time of year the resort is opened for the first time.
Rich Burkley, vice-president of mountain operations, commented on the actual situation, “It’s your typical early summer conditions. Better than a glacier, but not as good as a powder day. It will certainly be fun and is the perfect excuse for having a beer or two at the Sundeck. If you’ve got it, ski it.”
