The Russians: Do They Bring Good or Bad to Ski Resorts?

There are many gossips about the Russians all over the world but are they really so bad and bring much harm to many of the European ski resorts?

Nowadays much more Russians come to ski resorts of the Alps to spend their winter vacations than it was before. If earlier many of the ski resorts were not overloaded with the skiers during the two first weeks of January, then now the situation has changed greatly. Many Russians have booked their Orthodox Christmas vacations during this period of time. Of course, the prices were also risen due to the flock of the Russian tourists.

It is not a secret that the reputation of rich Russians is not good at all at many ski resorts. They are told to be very impatient and rude in comparison with the skiers from other countries. Besides, many ski resorts do not want to accept the group bookings from Russian tourists. This does not mean that resorts refuse accepting them at all. The main reason is that many ski resorts simply want to have the mixed groups of skiers heading their slopes. However, some ski resorts in Austria introduced a “quota” on the visitors from Russia in order to restrict their number.

But from the other hand, the flock of Russian tourists to European can also have a positive influence on the ski resorts economics as they also bring money to the resorts. This money can be also invested into the development of the ski resorts industry.
