Colorado: Ski resorts satisfied with winter season
Despite a slight decline in tourist numbers, ski resorts in the US state of Colorado are looking back on the 2008/09 winter season with some satisfaction. The 22 ski resorts that have joined forces around Aspen and Vail as Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA) have been meeting for almost half a century to share their conclusions about the winter that has just passed. The exchange of experience among them is seen above all as a guarantee of the consistently high quality of the winter sports on offer and the excellent service at Colorado’s ski resorts.

The absence of 6.9%, or around 500,000 winter sports enthusiasts, in Vail, Aspen and other ski resorts in Colorado does not in itself cause CSCUSA’s executive director any concern, since the comparison is with the record year of 2008, the best winter season of all time. The increase in local skiers and snowboarders led to a 2.5% rise in this area and shows that winter sports enthusiasts in Colorado, too, currently have to tighten their belts and are opting for their local mountains, the director said in her analysis.
