Veneto or Alto Adige

Veneto or Alto Adige
Veneto or Alto Adige

Cortina d’Ampezzo… It is a well-know Italian ski resort situated in Dolomites in Italy. It is very popular not only among the skiers as this resort is also often visited by modern stars as Sting and etc. However the residents of Cortina d’Ampezzo are not satisfied with the position it has in modern Italy.

Nowadays Cortina belongs to Veneto but many of the local residents want Cortina to be the part of Trentino-Alto Adige. It is so because that resort enjoys more administrative independence, lower taxes and has got more generous state subsidies.

There are also some cultural reasons, too. The trouble is that in Alto Adige people speak the ancient Roman language that is also spoken in Cortina.

There was even a referendum held and many people voted for Cortina belong the part of Alto Adige. To their great regret, the Veneto regional government is not going to execute their will and it is not going let Cortina become the part of Alta Adige again.
