From next winter, German winter sports enthusiasts will have an exciting new opportunity to discover a ski destination in Scandinavia: low-cost airline Air Berlin is adding flights to the snowy Swedish destination of Arvidsjaur to its winter schedule.

Air Berlin will operate flights to Arvidsjaur from November 29, 2010, to April 1, 2011. The airline offers nonstop flights to Arvidsjaur from Hanover Airport and Stuttgart Airport. Connecting flights are also available from Berlin-Tegel, DĂĽsseldorf, Hamburg, and Munich. Air Berlin is therefore the only airline with flights from Germany to Arvidsjaur in its schedule.

A winter sports paradise
Arvidsjaur is a winter sports paradise: Located just around 100 kilometres from the Arctic Circle, it is guaranteed to have plenty of snow during the ski season. More than 15,000 reindeer live in the municipality of Arvidsjaur, and over 4,000 lakes invite visitors to explore the unspoilt countryside. In addition to the “regular” hotels, the winter resort also has ice hotels and a route nearly 400 kilometres long for a snowmobile excursion—a truly special leisure experience. The climatic conditions in Arvidsjaur have also attracted the automotive industry to Lapland in the far north: international car manufacturers such as Audi, Porsche, and Volkswagen test their cars and accessories here in subarctic conditions.
Air Berlin flights to and from Arvidsjaur operate on Mondays and Fridays. Flights from Stuttgart depart at 10:20 and take three hours. The return flight is scheduled for 14:00, arriving back in Stuttgart at around 16:50. From Hanover Airport, Air Berlin departs at 8:40 and arrives in Arvidsjaur at 11:05. The return flight departs at 12:30, with arrival at Hanover Airport scheduled for 14:55. That’s a snow holiday to remember.
