A restaurant was burnt at the Finnish resort

On Sunday, February 13, 2011, on the eve of St. Valentine's Day, fire destroyed the oldest ski restaurant at the ski resort of Ruka in Finland. SkiBistro was the oldest restaurant of the resort, which was located right on the track. The fire completely destroyed the three-story building of the restaurant. Fortunately, no one died. The fire started when the restaurant was closed.

Causes of fire are still unknown. According to Finnish firefighters, a fire could occur in a warehouse of the restaurant, where were kept spirits, as reported by the Helsingin Sanomat publication.

According to the manager of the restaurant, Matti Parviainen, the approximate fire damage is estimated at 3-4 million euros.

SkiBistro was one of the most popular places at the Ruka resort. It was designed for 600 visitors.

Ruka ski resort is located near the town of Kuusamo. Its slopes every year receive thousands of tourists not only from Finland, but also from Russia, Britain, Germany and the Baltic countries. All the most famous parties at the resort, musical performances on the outdoor terrace of the restaurant, night DJ sets - all this is now history.

SkiBistro was considered as a symbol of après-ski relaxation in Ruka. Despite the fact that the resort still had 10 restaurants by the track, hardly any of them could replace SkiBistro with its atmosphere. Nevertheless, there are still available Ruka Plaza, Restaurant Piste and others.

Service of the SkiBistro restaurant will contact the owners of subscriptions for lunches in the restaurant, as well as those, who purchased tickets for performances, which were to be held in the restaurant to address issues of reimbursement of expenses.
