The American company Recon Instruments together with the manufacturer of ski glasses Zeal Optics presented an update for one of its latest gadgets - ski goggles with built-in screen and a GPS-module. The system, built-in into the goggles, will be used as Google Android operating system.

Transcend ski goggles went on sale at the beginning of the current ski season. Goggles are equipped with optical filters from Zeal Optics, as well as a special LCD screen that displays a set of parameters – from the speed of the skier on the track to the temperature and length of the distance passed.

Integrated OS from Google allows Transcend to display several additional options. So, now the skiers will be able to determine their location using Google Maps.
However, the main advantage of the new gadget is that now buyers of Transcend ski goggles are able to use additional Google applications and developers will be able to update functions. Currently, Google Android system allows you to add about 200 000 different applications.

On the market today are presented two Transcend models. The $499 model is available with two light filters: polarized and photochromic. The $399 model has only one polarized filter.

Zeal Optics Company is a British manufacturer of sunglasses and ski goggles. One of the main directions of the company is producing of special sun protecting clothing for extreme athletes. Transcend goggles are designed primarily for snowboarders. However, it is possible that many experienced skiers will also be able to appreciate the advantages of joint product from Zeal Optics and Recon Instruments.
