Colorado ski resorts do their best to prevent visitors fleeing off during this severe period of economical uncertainty. Many local ski areas concentrate their efforts on enhancing their services and skiing conditions. The highest preference is improving “guest-facing amenities” as CSCUSA officals stated.
Thus, by the coming 2009-10 winter season one of the most well known local ski resorts Aspen will
deploy the hi-tec system providing complete hands-free radio operated access throughout the whole its area across the four mountains of Aspen/Snowmass. New lift passes will be made in form of plastic cards having a chip inside allowing to identify skiers as they approach lifts on the slopes.
These measures will allow to decrease waiting time on the slopes and in general to enhance skiing experience as the guest won’t need to dig into their pockets anymore. Except the new ticket system a tunnel will be constructed on Buttermilk above the terrain park. It will make possible to split skier traffic by separating terrain park traffic from regular skier traffic.
Besides all these enhancements the company operating Aspen ski resort will finish the first stage of comprehensive renovation of The Little Nell hotel, the one and only five-star hotel there. The whole project will cost approximately USD 18 million.
In the nearest future Aspen will remain the place where world sports events, such as the Women's FIS World Cup Alpine ski races and the CoverGirl Snow Angels Invitational, are held. Also in January the ESPN Winter X Games 14 will take place there.
