Ski schools offer various sport training options. In ski schools tourists are trained traditional skiing, including downhill skiing and cross country skiing, and such winter sports as snowboarding and freestyle skiing.

In ski schools are available different age groups. Age of trainees depends on several factors, including the popularity of the resort, its ski terrain, etc. As a rule, in ski schools there are three basic age groups: children, adults and "mature adults", it means retirees. By the number of subgroups is in the children group. It is because of different level of physical training and obvious age differences of the children, which are usually related to adolescents from 7 to 15 years.

The optimal size of the ski school group is 4-6 people. And if it is a budget ski resort, such as, for example, Slovakia, the size of groups in schools may increase to 8-10. Either way, tourists can get information about ski schools, its reputation at particular resorts in the information centers. Info centers can be found at virtually every respectable European ski resort from Zakopane and Smokovec to Zermatt and Meribel.

Ski resort schools in France, Germany and Austria mostly have elaborated and improved training programs. Private instructor is a phenomenon popular at ski resorts in Switzerland, where prefer to rest the richest tourists. One way or another, nearly all ski schools, which are now located in the Alpine region, whether it's school in Crans-Montana, Zoelden, Alta Badia and Grenoble. All they have to pass stringent tests for compliance its programs and the quality of training with requirements of the European Safety Directives. Instructors in the ski schools in the Alps must have a special certificate, which entitles them to teach skiing. In some countries there are mandatory minimum programs for all schools. For example, if you're going on vacation to Austria, then you can be sure that in the Austrian ski schools you will meet a single standard of ski training programs, which is clearly structured not only by the age, but also by the degree of skiers’ experience.

Russia also has its own ski training centers. Dombai, Elbrus region, ski resorts in Sochi, ski resorts of the Moscow region, Abzakovo ski center in the Urals and Sheregesh in Siberia. These are the places, where today you can find the most experienced ski instructors. The main center of Russian ski education is Leonid Tyagachyov School, located near the town of Dmitrov in the Moscow region in the Dedenevo village.

Often in some countries there are priorities in ski training. Thus, ski resorts schools in Sweden, Norway and Finland additionally teach cross country skiing. This is due to the relatively modest size of ski slopes in Scandinavia and the traditional popularity of classic skiing in those countries.

Today at ski resorts can be found hotels that offer services of its ski schools. Typically, these are 5-4* hotels. On request, the cost of training can be included in the room price on the stage of booking.

Ski schools often offer their services in cooperation with ski equipment rental offices. Such options are especially useful for the beginners, who have the opportunity to try different types of equipment without significant costs.

After completion of training skiers are invited to the group race, which determines the awarding winners. Many schools hold special parties to mark the end of training, which, according to some skiers, are the most vivid impression of the winter holidays in the mountains.

Lifts in Courchevel will be adapted for the children
The famous ski resort of Courchevel in France has decided to care not only about the oligarchs, but also the younger generation. Before the winter 2012-2013 season administration of the resort decided to upgrade all 18 chairlifts lifts to make them more comfortable for the children.
Ski resorts in Austria will unite
Two ski resorts in Austria - Alpbach and Wildschönau - will be merged into a single ski area, which will be named Ski Jewel. The slopes of the two resorts will be united thanks to the new eight-place gondola, which is planned to be installed this summer.
