Ski resorts in Switzerland are a delightful experience. Switzerland is probably the most exclusive and oldest ski area in the world. And even today Switzerland hasn’t lost its popularity as a place for winter vacation. Definitely, some glamour factor has something to do with public admiration. There are about 42 ski areas in Switzerland that are located primarily in Valais, Eastern Switzerland, the Bernese Oberland and the Canton Graubunden. Each of them has its own allure and unites the whole spectrum of winter sports. Alongside with an incredible vistas Switzerland also offers a wide selection of slopes, fun parks, cross-country trails, bob and luge tracks, winter hiking trails and deep snow areas. Everyone can come to ski to this country from the beginner to a professional athlete because the slopes of all levels are represented in Switzerland.
The famous mountain village Zermatt is one of the great ski and climbing centres of the world. Nestled in a deep valley and enclosed between steeply scarped mountains, it is dominated by the huge and gracefully curved pyramid of the Matterhorn. So, Zermatt is well attended by tourists and mountaineers even when season ends. Once you come to Zermatt, you will find 600 km of trails, 156 of which are classified as Black Runaway. This means that the experienced skiers will also see a challenge over there. Many slopes are classified as Red Slopes – this means that they are of a medium level of complexity.
One of the largest ski resorts in Bernese Oberland is the Adelboden that is situated at the end of the Engstligental river valley. There is a thriving après-ski infrastructure in Adelboden. There are over 30 ski huts, restaurants and bars expect tourists in the region. The choice is so wide that everyone will find something appropriate for him/herself. Besides, Adelboden is well known for the World Cup Slalom that gathers over 20,000 Chuenisbärgli spectators annually.
However, it should be mentioned that a ski vacation in Switzerland is not cheap at all. But those who will spend their winter vacation there will discover that Swiss ski resorts offer a first class service and have the slopes of a high quality.

Skiing in Switzerland: strong franc enables big discounts
Because of strengthening of the Swiss franc against euro and dollar prices for holiday in Switzerland have significantly increased and many tourists prefer to visit less expensive resorts in French or Austrian Alps. Seefeld will celebrate the end of winter
At the world-famous Austrian ski resort of Seefeld on February 19 will be organized Maskentreiben 2012 festivities. Originally a small celebration created by local residents for the tourists evolved into a vivid entertainment show, enjoying great popularity among the guests of the resort.

Ice festival at Norwegian ski resort
This year the Ice Music Festival will be held from 3 to 5 February, while the ticket price will be about 300-400 NOK for the entire festival. Ticket holders will be able to reach the venue of the festival on a free bus from the central square of Geilo.
