Ski resorts in Greece
Not only sandy beaches and lovely promenades attract tourists to Greece. There are some ski resorts popular among the skiers of all ages there. About 15 ski centers offer a lot of opportunities to those who want to feel themselves real skiers.
The most popular ski resort in Greece situated on 2500-meter-high mountain Parnassus attracts thousands of tourists every year. As the slopes here are not very steep they mainly attract beginners. The slopes are rather short and not too difficult so it’s not necessary to be a professional to enjoy skiing there.
There are a lot of ski schools and courses there, as well as a welcoming mountain restaurant with international delicacies. The best-known ski area on the Parnassus is the town Arachova, which is the oldest ski resort in Greece. Its 3 tracks are pretty well and offer good conditions for alpine skiing.
The second highest mountain in Greece, Olympus, is also a popular holiday destination for winter sports enthusiasts. This place is preferred by snowboarders. They like to refine their techniques there and have fun on these deserted slopes covered with fine snow. The tracks there are very well suited for skiing too. You hardly ever have to wait for a lift or gondola there, which makes the skiing in this resort very pleasant. Then again, courses and training sessions are offered for skiers of all ages.
There’s one more thing that makes this place even greater – small tournaments are held there so everyone can take part in them.
Greeks themselves love skiing and during their holiday often visit peaks of Parnassus or Olympus. A breathtaking view of distant sea turns simple winter sports activity into the greatest experience. It’s even possible to get sun-tanned while skiing from August to September. For many people that makes their holidays even more special.
