Ski resorts in France is an extraordinary experience. Only in France the enthusiastic winter athletes can find the largest and highest ski resorts in Europe. The most impressive ski area in the Alpine region is located in Mont Blanc. But even apart from this popular ski resort France still have some 22 other ski resorts that will leave no one indifferent. Everyone will find the right vacation destination there whether it is a remote and romantic mountain village or a high-class hotel. There are a lot of holiday houses and apartments offered there besides hotels and guesthouses. They are designed mainly for individual skiers and have nothing in common with hotels.

There are many ski resorts in France that were built a long time ago and have their own history. For instance, in 1924 Winter Olympic Games took place in France for the first time. There are also some winter resorts in France that are not so charming but they offer rather attractive price rates. They mostly have favorable location, so it is not very difficult to get to these places.

Deep snow areas of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc region are highly recommended for free ride amateurs. This town has its unique charm. It is especially hectic at the end of the season in May as it is the center for mountaineers and hikers. It is also the starting point of many glacier and mountain tours. There are 274 km of ski slopes in the region of Chamonix expecting skiers from all over the world. You will also find excellent après-ski infrastructure and a great number of ski huts in this region.
The skiers who search for a fast track will find 300 km of downhill trails at Les Trois Valles.

Even ski racers come to France to ski. An exceptionally large and beautiful cross-country network in Villard-de-Lans, Autrans or Lans-en-Vercors expects them. The cross-country network extends between the pre-Dauphine, and Drome Isére until the city of Grenoble. Cross-country trails are similar to the northern ones, which makes the region the main cross-country center in the Alpine region of France. When the snow cover disappears in spring, numerous flowers appear making the region beautiful and giving it a special charm. This region is also called the Bear country because the last brown bear in Kalkalpen was killed in 1937.
