It is especially hectic at the end of the season in May as it is the center for mountaineers and hikers. It is also the starting point of many glacier and mountain tours. There are 274 km of ski slopes in the region of Chamonix expecting skiers from all over the world. You will also find excellent après-ski infrastructure and a great number of ski huts in this region.
The skiers who search for a fast track will find 300 km of downhill trails at Les Trois Valles.

Even ski racers come to France to ski. An exceptionally large and beautiful cross-country network in Villard-de-Lans, Autrans or Lans-en-Vercors expects them. The cross-country network extends between the pre-Dauphine, and Drome Isére until the city of Grenoble. Cross-country trails are similar to the northern ones, which makes the region the main cross-country center in the Alpine region of France. When the snow cover disappears in spring, numerous flowers appear making the region beautiful and giving it a special charm. This region is also called the Bear country because the last brown bear in Kalkalpen was killed in 1937.
