The cross-country network extends between the pre-Dauphine, and Drome Isére until the city of Grenoble. Cross-country trails are similar to the northern ones, which makes the region the main cross-country center in the Alpine region of France. When the snow cover disappears in spring, numerous flowers appear making the region beautiful and giving it a special charm. This region is also called the Bear country because the last brown bear in Kalkalpen was killed in 1937.
