Bavarian Alps
Endless snow – a ski vacation in Bavaria
A popular destination for a winter vacation is a ski vacation in the Bavarian Alps. There you can find the highest (2.962 m) skiing area in Germany, particularly the Zugspitze, which offers a breathtaking view of nice winter scenery and in addition is the only glacier skiing area.
It should be especially recommended to get the Happy Ski Card, which can be used in 95 lifts and disposes all together 200 runway kilometres. Among others to the skiing areas also belong Alpine arenas Zugspitze, Mittenwald, Seefeld as well as the snowy arena Tirol Zugspitze.
Holiday apartments or overnight stay possibilities are booked with pleasure in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and also in Oberstdorf. These places are known especially for their world cup runnings and ski jumping tours. In 1936 the Olympic Winter Olympics took place in Garmish which was really an honour. This place is located on the foot of Zugspitze. A ski vacation in the Bavarian Alps offers many possibilities for gastronomy. Of course there is the typical Bavarian kitchen with veal sausages and sour shrimps, but there are also other dishes like doner kebab, pizza or hamburgers.
