Saalbach-Hinterglemm ski resort in Austria started the ski season. The season opening was accompanied by one of the most spectacular this year shows - snowmobile races Swatch Snow Mobile, which took place on the streets of the resort on December 8-11, 2011.

Swatch Snow Mobile tournament is called Winter Formula 1. The world-famous racers, celebrities and skiers compete on the snowy slopes of Saalbach-Hinterglemm in snowmobile racing.

Swatch Snow Mobile has long been under the threat due to the lack of snow. However, organizers’ efforts and heavy snowfalls that came to the Alps last week allowed to organize the competition at the highest level. In order to create a sufficient snow cover the organizers transported thousands of cubic meters of snow from the glacier to the slopes.

Swatch Snow Mobile started on Friday in the center of Saalbach-Hinterglemm. It total the competition was attended by 24 teams each consisting of 6 people. Among the participants were teams of the Spanish Gran Canaria resort, team of the Saalbach Snow Circus, Swatch team, Land Rover team and others. A spectacular competition was won by the Ebner Event Logistics team. The race was broadcasted by the Austrian television. This year Saalbach race was visited by a renowned star. It was famous Formula 1 driver Kimi Raikonnen, who arrived to the Austrian resort for holidays, not for extreme driving.

Snowmobile races in Saalbach-Hinterglemm were watched by about 20 000 spectators. After the final race, which took place on Saturday December 9, at the resort was held a large-scale party dedicated to the winners and participants of the Swatch Snow Mobile.
