Ski resorts in Sweden: the world's largest indoor ski slope

(Other Ski Regions)

Sweden intends to build the world's largest roofed ski resort. It was announced on the official website of the International Ski Federation.

The world's largest indoor ski resort will be called Skipark 360. The giant ski pavilion will be designed by the architectural company CF Møller Architects.

The main advantage of the future resort is its unique slope. Designers of Skipark 360 want to create in the complex a ski track for 700 meters. Authors of the project hope that the artificial slope parameters will be suitable for the international ski competitions.

Artificial ski resort in Sweden may become one of the tallest buildings in Sweden. The height of Skipark 360 should reach 135 meters.

It will be located in the town of Blasta, 45 minutes drive from the capital of Sweden. After completion of the giant ski resort it will be visible from the Stockholm.

Skipark 360 is planned to be a multi-purpose resort. In addition to the ski slope there will be built a cross-country tunnel for 3.5 kilometers. In the complex will also be opened hockey fields and skating stadium. Infrastructure of the resort will also include restaurants, hotels, spa facilities with renowned Swedish saunas, as well as rooms for meetings and conferences.

The idea of ecological compatibility, which is one of the most popular options in Sweden, was modernized in the design of Skipark 360. The complex will receive energy entirely from renewable energy sources. Skipark 360 will be supplied from solar panels, wind generators and geothermal power plants.

The project was estimated at 1.5-2 million Swedish kronor. It is expected that the first phase of construction will begin in 2013-2014.

It is worth noting that construction of Skipark 360 is not the only big ski resort project in Europe. Thus, in the Netherlands specialists are seriously considering the idea of creation its own 2000- meter artificial mountain, where will be located the first Dutch ski resort.
