Ski resort in Italy: the new funicular and new discounts

Val Gardena, one of the most popular resorts in the Dolomites Superski region, plans to open a new cable car at the beginning of the new ski season. Presentation of the Rasciesa funicular will be held on the opening day of ski season at the resort on December 4, 2010.

The new Rasciesa funicular is intended to replace an outdated platform that delivers on the slopes of the Italian Alps guests of the Ortiz resort, which is a part of the Val Gardena ski resort. With the introduction of a new monorail system tourists in Val Gardena will be able not only to quickly get to the slopes, but also get pleasure from the breathtaking view of the most beautiful places in the mountains of Italy. As you know, Val Gardena is a part of the Dolomites national park, which is protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

The funicular will connect the Ortizei resort by the Seceda gondola and a network of “Gardena Ski Carousel” ski lifts. The funicular will make the slopes of Sassolungo, Sella and other mountains of the Dolomites closer to the tourists.

To date, the resort of Val Gardena has in total 83 lifts that serve 175 kilometers of tracks. Most of the slopes of Val Gardena are equipped with snowmaking systems. Val Gardena is a part of the world's largest ski pass Dolomites Superski, which offers access to 12 ski resorts in Italy.

Ski resort of Val Gardena is famous thanks to a variety of sporting events. The most famous among them is Sella Ronda Ski Marathon. This ski season the marathon in Val Gardena will be held on February 18, 2011.

Val Gardena has also prepared a package of special discounts for family tourists in the 2010-2011 season. Val Gardena SuperKids and Val Gardena SuperSun packages give discounts on accommodation, meals and ski passes for tourists with children. Sales program in Val Gardena will be available from 19 March to 20 April 2010.
