Dubai will invest into the ski resort in Macedonia
Ski Resort of Macedonia promises to be in the center of one of the largest investment projects in the ski holiday sector in the Balkans. MG Global Group, a financial group from Dubai is to invest 200 million euros in the development of a small resort Kozuf.
International Financial Group has bought a controlling stake of the Macedonian resort. MG Global Group plans to completely reequip the resort and turn it into a world-class ski resort. The investors plan to create the largest ski resort in the region of the Southern Balkans. Realization of the project will be led by a Canadian company Select Contract, which specializes in design, construction and management of ski resorts.
Kozuf ski resort has advantageous location just 60 kilometers from the Mediterranean coast of Greece. Only 3 lifts are currently working at the resort. In this case, resort has many perspectives for growth. In total 12 slopes for skiing are available here. Vertical drop is 573 meters. The closest international airport is located in Thessaloniki, Greece.
According to the Macedonian news agency MINA, project participants have agreed to provide project documentation for construction of hotels, ski lifts, apartments, sports facilities and the water park until late March 2011.
According to preliminary estimates, the project will be realized in 4 years. It is expected that during this time at the resort will be built not only tourist facilities, but also will be updated the associated infrastructure. To date, the only road that leads to Kozuf requires reconstruction.
