Italian ski resorts urge to slow down
(Skiing in Italy)
While most ski resorts in Europe compete in the description of high-speed features of its slopes, some ski resorts in Italy decided to choose another way and offer tourists a "slow downhill".
According to France Press, Cervinia ski resort at the foot of the Matterhorn peak has developed a special ski trip for skiers who ski more for pleasure than to demonstrate to others their skills. The new route was called “Slow Skiing”.
The creators of the new route say that the proposal is designed for those tourists who are tired of the fuss on the slopes and who seek solitude. Skiing in Italy at Cervinia resort: now there is the route along the quiet wooded slopes, equipped with comfortable wooden benches at the foot of the famous Alpine peak. Benches are installed in special locations, offering magnificent views of the Valle d'Aosta region.
According to the organizers of the "Slow skiing" project, the idea of a special walking route came into their minds after an acquaintance with the concept of «Slow Food» - the idea of a harmonious and healthy diet, invented in Italy as a response to the domination of fast food.
The new skiing route will pass through ancient paths that for centuries linked the border regions of Italy and Switzerland.
Cervinia ski resort is located on one of the most famous peaks of the Alps - the Matterhorn. The resort has a combined lift pass system with the Swiss ski resort of Zermatt.
Connoisseurs of leisurely holiday will also find a lot of interesting things on the route, offered by the best cooks of Bolzano resort in the mountainous Italian region of Alta Badia. "Tasty skies" - so was named the route, where skiers are offered not only skiing but also tasting gastronomic delights of the mountainous region. On the way are located 10 huts, where each of the chefs will offer his unique dish with traditional alpine ingredients. Moreover, tourists will be told in detail how these dishes are cooked.
