Ski resorts in Europe: where is the best meal?

Well-functioning elevators, smooth tracks and neat hotels – there are not the only ways to attract tourists to the slopes of the Alps. Today, several ski resorts in France, Switzerland and Italy are trying to position themselves as the best gastronomic ski resorts. World-known culinary guides help to define the leader. As reported by fasttrackski.co.uk, a reputation of a “gastronomic Mecca” now has the French Alps resort Three Valleys, which includes such famous winter holiday resorts as Courchevel and Méribel. Ski tours 2011 in Three Valleys promise to be more exciting because here work the largest number of cooks among all the resorts in Europe, who were awarded the stars of the famous restaurant guide Michelin. Only in Courchevel 7 restaurants are awarded with Michelin stars. Switzerland also has its own restaurant guide - Gault & Millau. The best cuisine among the ski resorts in Switzerland, in its opinion, has Zermatt, Crans-Montana and Gshtaadt. Italians highlight the resort of Alta Badia. Among the ski resorts in Austria in terms of cuisine the best is Leh, where there is the largest number of restaurants per capita in the country.

Discounts at the end of the ski season

As for big discounts, under the influence of the mass booking this autumn, ski resorts relaxed and slowed down. In 2010-2011 winter discounts on accommodation are rare. Some resorts have announced the promotions to reduce prices just in the end of the season. So, the French Grand Masif offers free ski passes for children under 12 years from 9 to 15 April 2011. But they will be free, when one adult lift pass will be paid. American hotel chain Dolce Winter Escape promises 50% discount on rooms in the hotels of such ski resorts in the US as Aspen, Snowmass and Buttermilk. The start of the offer is also planned in the end of the season. Offers are available till April 20, 2011.
