Freeride World Tour will be held at 6 mountain resorts

Famous competitions in extreme skiing Freeride World Tour will be held this season on a larger number of ski resorts. The success of the tournament, which took place in winter 2010, made the organizers to think about the expansion. Thus, Freeride World Tour in 2011 will be held at 6 ski resorts of the world.

Freeride World Tour during its short history managed to gain a reputation of one of the most representative tournaments in extreme alpine skiing in the world. In 2010 legs of Freeride World Tour were held at ski resorts in France, Switzerland, Russia and the U.S. Verbier, Chamonix, Sochi, Squaw Valley - these are the resorts that have provided their slopes for the courageous athletes during Freeride World Tour 2010.

It is worth noting that last year's tournament had to be postponed at all the resorts without exception. The reason was the poor weather conditions. For the organization of Freeride World Tour is needed high snow cover, as well as guarantee of safety from avalanches. So this year organizers decided to change the Squaw Valley in the U.S. for another resort - Kirkwood.

The following year the first ski resort that will host the competition of Freeride World Tour will be Chamonix (22 January). The first stage of the tournament starts here in January. After Chamonix downhill extreme skiers will go to St. Moritz. St. Moritz ski resort will be the first freshman in program of Freeride World Tour 2011. After St. Moritz tournament will move to Sochi, then to Kirkwood ski resort in the U.S. After a "roller coaster" it is the turn of another newcomer - Fieberbrunn resort in Austria. Closing performances of skiers will be held on the slopes of the Swiss resort Verbier on 19 March 2011.

The title sponsor of the Freeride World Tour. The tournament is also sponsored by the Swiss watchmaker Swatch.
