Snowfalls In Austria

Huge snowfalls that have been taking place across the Austrian Alps beginning since the last weekend, October the 3-5 brought up to 70 cm of fresh snow powder with them. They benefited immensely to the snow layer on ski resorts slopes some of which are already open for the new 2008-09 season.

Thus, the last weekend happened the opening party on account of Hintertux glacier ski resort’s snow park. During this event guests could enjoy free snowboard testings and pro-riders performances. Absinthe Film premiere was also timed to the resort’s opening. So in this case the snowfalls caused no troubles but became source of pleasure for many winter sports fans.

The Tux resort spokeswoman Elisabeth Kröll commented upon the circumstances this way: “It really was a crazy to have so much snowfall at the beginning of October like in the deepest winter. With powder on the slopes, a park that was fun for both, freestyle newbies and top riders, free testing of the latest material and last but not least two big parties it was fantastic. We had not only a bit of everything, but a lot of everything - snow, fog, sun, pipe, park, powder, party and products. And all that at the beginning of October!”
