Arosa - Carbon Free Ski Resort

The Swiss ski resort of Arosa is considered to be one and the first ski resort where the skiers pay for their carbon dioxide output. As soon as you reach Arosa, your carbon dioxide output will be much less, perhaps, than it was in another place.

Arosa calculates the total output for every guest spending his ski vacation there. The resort guests are usually asked what types of activity they usually do at the resort and what means of transport they use, etc. The tourists usually pay the local tourism tax in the region, so this allows Arosa to get the carbon credits from a biogas plant situated in Germany.

There is a very ecologically friendly way to get to Arose. One can easily get there by train from Zurich and from other big cities of Europe. Besides, the connection is banned from midnight to 6 a.m. in the region.

Once you’ll get into Arosa, you’ll even not notice the absence of your car because there is a well-developed bus service in the village. Buses go there every 10 minutes and the bus service is free of charge in the region.
