Turkey As a Ski Destination?
(Other Ski Regions)Have you ever considered Turkey as a destination for your ski vacation? Of course, no. We hardly can imagine snow in Turkey as it has always been associated with white sand beaches and warm sea.
However, in fact you can find fresh white snow in winter in Uludag National Park. The only thing that can make you understand that you are not in the Alps is the Turkish tunes that are heard from the loudspeaker.
The Turkish mountains are really very impressive and beautiful, however they are not still very popular with the tourists from Europe. The only foreign visitors to Uludag are the Russians and the Dutch. However, the resort is very popular with the skiers from Istanbul.
The ski resort of Uludag is situated on the Holy Mountain which height is 2,500 meters. It has got 16 ski lifts and a ski station.
Though Turkey invites skiers from other countries to its pistes, the service there is far from the service of the world-class ski resorts. One of the main disadvantages of the Turkish ski resorts is that the ski lifts usually belong to the hotels, so the skiers, who hasn’t stayed at a hotel, should pay for the lifts approximately 25 Euros per person.
Of course, those who prefer active ski vacation, can get bored at the Turkish slopes. However, families looking for a relaxing ski holiday can get much pleasure there on the contrary.
