Ski Area Finkenberg (Ziller Valley)
With the "Zillertaler Superskipass" you can choose from 668 kilometres of piste in the ski areas of Fügen, Kaltenbach, Zell, Gerlos, Mayrhofen, Hippach, Tux, Finkenberg, and Wildkogel, which are all excellently linked to one another by a free train and bus shuttle (see ski region). From Finkenberg you have direct access to the Ski und Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000, including the ski areas of Finkenberg, Penken, Rastkogel, Eggalm, Horberg and the Hintertux glacier – a piste arena with 227 kilometres of piste and 59 lift systems between an altitude of 630 and 3,250 m. The Hintertux Glacier is even snow-sure over the summer months and offers diverse descents. Whether you take the Gefrorenen Wand (The Frozen Wall at 3,250m) 12 km long valley run, test the mogul slope at Olperer (3,476 m) or rather enjoy the deep-snow area at Kaserer (3,093 m), you definitely won't be twiddling your thumbs looking for something to do! A further highlight is the glacier circuit, where there are 15,000 metres in altitude and 72 km of descents to be conquered in a day. At Penken the likes of the Harakiri descent with a drop of 78% at average (Austria’s steepest ski piste) will challenge even the most practised of skiers. Rastkogel and Horberg however, rather offer open spaces and intermediate runs for wallowers. Even boarders will be treated to snow parks with half-pipe, tables, slides and many other exemplary elements on the glacier and at Penken.
